L2R's Impact in 2025: Dance, Opportunity and Community in Motion

In 2025, L2R continued to grow as one of Australia’s most dynamic youth arts organisations, grounded in hip-hop and street dance and driven by the voices of young people across Melbourne’s West.

This year, 441,511 young people engaged with L2R through free dance classes, workshops and school programs. Each moment on the dancefloor created space for creativity, connection and self-expression, building something far bigger than the individual experience.

Access remains central to our work. Across 418 free classes, young people stepped into inclusive environments where they could learn, create and belong. The impact is clear, with 84% of participants reporting increased confidence to try new things after taking part in our programs.

Our community reflects the cultural richness of Melbourne’s West. In 2025, 56% of participants spoke a language other than English at home, representing more than 20 cultural groups. These perspectives shape not only who participates, but how we teach, collaborate and create together. Representation is embedded in everything we do.

We are equally committed to building pathways into the arts. This year, L2R employed 44 young artists and delivered 864 hours of paid internships through the Igniting Legends program. We also paid $166,000 directly to young creatives, recognising their work and supporting sustainable careers.

From local workshops to platforms like RESONANCE, 2025 has been a year of growth, experimentation and investment in young people as artists and leaders.

Looking ahead, we remain focused on breaking down barriers, championing diverse voices and creating meaningful opportunities. When young people are supported to tell their stories, entire communities move with them.
