In March 2025, L2R attended the 2025 Maribyrnong Civic Awards ceremony, celebrating outstanding individuals and organisations that have made a meaningful impact in the Maribyrnong community.
We are honoured to receive the Community Strengthening Award for our work across Maribyrnong and Melbourne’s West. This award recognises all the people that make up our L2R community – our artists, teachers, parents and family members, Board, Street Dance leaders and most importantly the young people with whom we work. It is our great privilege to work alongside young people creating, moving and exploring pathways to redress power dynamics and dissolve barriers; and generating a potent alchemy of great art and social capital.
We are committed to delivering this work, continuing the legacy of the Pioneers of street and social dance and their lived experiences, informing us today as we gather, perform, connect and celebrate Street Dance to create community in Melbourne’s West.
Maribyrnong Mayor Pradeep Tiwari said all the winners and nominees play an important role in helping making the municipality a great place to work, study, visit and play.
“From our volunteers, businesses, those involved in sports and the arts; to those who bring people together through to leadership and support – it is this connection to community that is irreplaceable.”

“This year’s Civic Award winners reflect this in the best possible way, and recognise the everyday heroes that contribute to Maribyrnong being a beacon of community strength.”
Huge thanks to Maribyrnong City Council for recognising and acknowledging the work that we do!
