‘Insert Self’ features 11 artists led by co-directors @jaydenlewiswall &@cadbury_boy. This new dance work explores contemporary and hip-hop dance styles. Interrogating common freedoms and authentic, urgent identity making. This first development of the work aims at locating the body as a space, where humans explore experimental histories & lived subcultural identities.
This new dance work explores contemporary and hip-hop dance styles. Interrogating common freedoms and authentic, urgent identity making. This first development of the work aims at locating the body as a space, where humans explore experimental histories & lived subcultural identities. Future proofing & validating divergent creative forces, it’s a clarion call for self-determination. Forged through “from here, for here” the work proposes a meeting point between hip hop & contemporary dance, as a landscape for better understanding our cultural identities & points of convergence.
On Friday 25th November, we presented this development work at the Blue Stone Church in Footscray to a small and curated guest list of friends and folks. We are thrilled to share with you some pictures of the presentation and a highlight reel of from the development rehearsals.
