L2R aims to increase the capacity and learning of our young people by joining community development and artistic leadership positions within the organisation in a safe and supported environment.

Igniting Legends Program (formerly L2R Pathways Leadership Program), consists of three areas of development within L2R including, 3 paid internships for young people already connected to L2R, a series of training and development opportunities for professional and emerging artists and two new employee roles, the Youth Arts and Community Development Coordinator and the Community Development and Events Coordinator.

In 2018, L2R Dance received funding from the Lord Mayors Charitable Foundation to pilot the L2R Pathways Emerging Artist Program. The pilot was hugely successful, proving to be an integral part of the organisation’s future direction. The pilot demonstrated a need for greater support and investment for experienced participants of L2R, and proved their capacity to take on leadership roles if supported appropriately – thus the L2R Pathways Leadership Program was born in 2019.

In 2019, Efren Pamilacan was appointed to the position of Youth Arts and Community Development Coordinator to develop and implement the program with support from the CEO. Placing 3 emerging artists in paid internships to foster artistic skills and career aspirations.

Hëna Memishi is our Community Development and Events Coordinator. Hëna support our CEO to bring greater artistic direction to our core free dance programs and teaching committee, while developing and building rigour in our fee-for-service stream.

In 2020, L2R is excited to develop the Igniting Legends program with the 2020 Strategic Plan and future direction of the organisation, ensuring that our young people have a stronger voice in the design and development of L2R’s programs and outcomes. While supporting our young people dreams and career aspiration in the creative industries.

The Igniting Legends Program in 2020 is collaboratively funded by, The William Buckland Foundation, The Sidney Myer Fund and the Besen Family Foundation.
